Mary Jane's Around the World

|
Apron RackWow, cool -- we didn't realize until today that we were featured in the No Coast Craft-o-Rama's blog in December. Thanks, guys!

In other news, Meghan has been playing around with creating a Google map showing all the fabulous places we've sent aprons. Hopefully, this will be on the site someday, but until then check it out at Google.

There will be TWELVE new aprons posted to Etsy as soon as Meghan has time (we're shooting for Sunday at the latest, but work has been nuts!).

Meanwhile, Mary Jane is busy cutting out new aprons while her sewing machine is in the shop for a tune-up. Gotta make sure things are in tip-top condition as we gear up for Craftstravaganza on April 26.

Old and New News

|
Old news: On November 30, 2007 -- during No Coast Craft-O-Rama, Molly Priesmeyer of MinnPost wrote this great piece about Mary Jane's Handmade. At the time, we didn't have our web site up, but now that we do we wanted to share this with everyone.

New news: We were accepted into the Craftstravaganza! This year's show is on April 26 at the State Fairgrounds in St. Paul, MN. Mark your calendars, we hope to see you there. Mary Jane's workshop is going to be in overdrive as we stock up for the big show.

Feeling Owl-y

Thumbnail image for owlySome new fabric arrived at the Mary Jane's workshop this weekend courtesy of Mary Jane's daughter, Margaret. (Thanks, Madge!) Keep an eye on our Etsy shop to see what this fabric becomes when it grows up. Will it be an apron or a tote? You never can tell; no one but Mary Jane herself knows for sure!

This weekend, we also posted several new aprons on Etsy, including a super-cute heart apron (just in time for St. Valentine's day!) and several amazingly cute polka-dotties. Check 'em out!

Aprons in Australia!

|
Happy customer Suzie sent us these awesome photos of her modeling one of the four (yes, FOUR!) aprons she's bought from us.

Thumbnail image for polkadottie1.jpegShe had such nice things to say about us, we wanted to share them:

"I know you told me they are to be worn but I love them both and I don't know how I can bring myself to get them dirty!"

"I'm so happy to be able to buy these lovely aprons. Nobody does work like this anymore. Apart from the fact they are so beautifully made and designed, it gives me great pleasure to have made contact with an artist on the other side of the world too."

Suzie is a folk singer near Melbourne, Australia. Check her out on MySpace.

We're so glad she found us on Etsy!

Welcome

|
Welcome to Mary Jane's Handmade. We'll be launching a full web site here soon!

In the meantime, you can purchase items online at our Etsy shop, or browse a gallery of aprons and bags on Flickr.

All items are made by Mary Jane, a 90-year-old artist in Minneapolis. We love custom orders, so contact us if you're interested.
